Lingotto Factory, Torino

Post by bartigue » Fri Nov 08, 2019 9:21 pm

October 25th weekend I had a chance to travel to Torino and meet some close friends. We stayed at the NH Lingotto, which is a hotel built into the former FIAT factory in the Lingotto neighborhood of Torino, Italy. The Lingotto FIAT Factory ("Lingotto" for short) was built in the 1920s of reinforced concrete. The building is 500m in length, five stories high, with a rooftop test track. Vehicles were manufactured along assembly lines running up through the floors to the top, where cars were tested and then driven down a beautiful ramp system to the lots and rail yard behind. There are numerous write-ups of Lingotto online, such as https://www.atlasofplaces.com/architect ... o-factory/.

From the track looking towards one of the banks:

The brickwork of the bank; the slope is quite severe:

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that. Looks like great fun.
Now I see where they got the inspiration for the inside of the cam cover housings

If you look closely you can see the pot lights set into the surface of the spiral... imagine running down there at speed in the dark!
