parking brake cable

Post by miker » Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:57 am

I am puzzled by this video https://autoricambi.us/blogs/technical/ ... 124-spider and with my newer parking brake cable (probably from IAP back in the day) that matches what is shown in the video.

I have a recollection that the original cable ends inside the calipers nested inside the recesses machined in the mounts, rather than resting on the edges as shown. So instead of a curve, the cable was relatively straight.

Am I remembering correctly?

Video looks right to me. I think the newness of the caliper and cable are throwing you off.

Csaba sounds like Darth Vader in that video.

That video is several years old. The ends of the springs on the cable are a bit too big, they don't fit all the way into the recesses. This was corrected by the manufacturer a few years ago, so newer cables fit better. It really did not make a difference, it just makes the spring a little tighter.

Darth Vader out. :-)

Time to get out the Dremel tool.

May the Force be with you.
