Convertible top hardware

Post by Guilly » Sun Jul 07, 2019 7:33 pm

I got my 80 spider home and am starting to tackle the many projects. One is the top. The frame was in a box with no hardware at all. It is mostly assembled, but the hardware to attach it to the car is missing. I found the countersunk bolts that attach the frame to the car at Midwest-Bayless, but now I'm trying to figure out what attaches the rear support to the back deck. the holes look to be 5mm, but a normal 5mm bolt wont thread in. I don't want to damage the holes, anyone know what these bolts look like?

The top frame doesn't attach to anything in the back so to speak, it articulates. The top itself is held fast to the back of the car by a bracket, is this what you mean?

See below two excerpts from the microfilm, the first is the top frame, the second is the piece that holds down the canvas. It is installed on the car and then covered with an ornamental vinyl covered U shaped piece.
