1968 850 Spider - I'm just the second owner!

I'm very pleased to present my new (to me) early 1968 850 Spider. It's a bit of a cross-over between series 1 and 2 as it has the glass covered headlights, bright aluminum trim tail panel and no side markers (but single reverse light and early front turn signals under bumper) but also has dual circuit brakes.

I was lucky enough to buy this car from the original owner, a delightful 87 year old named Florence (but Flick to her friends!) who drove it until two years ago. Her husband collected parts from his brother in law, so it came with a stack of stuff as well as tons of documentation.

It lived in Ocean Beach, San Diego, so there's plenty of surface rust and damage from being hit by a drunk driver while parked in the garage, but still very honest with little structural rust to speak of.

I'm just happy to have a car with a known history as my last 850 Spider turned out to have a faked VIN.

A few from when I first pulled her from the garage:

Now that she's a little cleaner:

and just some of the stuff I got with her:

Not entirely certain what you mean, but I intend to restore what I can, as I can. There's so much original I'd hate to change any of it. I will probably keep the odd little "improvements" the owner's husband did, like the alternator and supporting wiring changes, but will not modify anything further.

It's been resprayed at least once, so I have no problem repainting it to repair the impact damage and what rust I can undo.
