--Richard, I see the VA tag....where are you located?

--Very clean! I particularly like the bumper opening delete. What is the fender-badge behind the front wheels? Very nice job!

1st drive was good, went around the block a couple of times. Now I will let it sit for a week and see what leaks? next thing is alignment, its out a little bit. Steering box may need to be tightened? but I have not driven the car before so I don't know how its supposed to feel :) Being used to modern car feel maybe just that?

I renovated an 80 Kawasaki 550kz went for a ride and was shocked how awful it felt? my regular bike was a Suzuki Hayabusa, so it was not a good comparison. After I rode it for a while it grew on me, getting back on the busa was WTF!
So I expect the same of the spider. Need to drive it a lot more!

Fender badge is a Marker light and indicator combo

I post on both sites. My renovation thread is on spider .com from 2016. I found this site about a year later. I really like both sites!

I live in Alexandria, VA A member of DC Fiat Club. Now my Resto is done I will attend as many events that I can! All my Saturdays were full with this project.

Richard, I'm in Fairfax, just down the road from Alexandria (where I grew up). Love to see that car one of these days. A spider will not in any way feel like a modern car. It was designed in the 60s and while advanced for that time can't meet the expectations of a modern car. The steering is not very direct, the brakes are just OK and the chassis is not happy with the conditions of the roads in our area. Mind you, I have had tons of spiders and still like them but you have to put them in context. IF we could get a break from the heat, your spider is a wonderful machine to buzz down the GW Parkway from Alexandria to Mount Vernon or rip around the Great Falls area.

Looks fantastic! I saw the post on spider.com, I can't believe you did that much work on just weekends. My first question was going to be how long have you been retired so you could woek on it every day? My second was how long did the car sit in the bottom of the bay? That was a lot of rust I saw in the restoration photos. You did a great job bringing this one back. Enjoy!

Hi Carl

Yes, my wife and I frequently go down the GW to Mount Vernon for a pleasant evening drive. We also frequent the Katie's car and coffee events on Saturday mornings (although it did stop for a while as I was working on the fiat).

I am sure we will hook up sometime. Do you go to any of the DC fiat club events?

Mikegreer: Thanks for the nice comments, and yes many Saturdays were spent in 14 hour days :D

The car had been stored for many years in a carport half under the roof, so it was very rusty on the drivers side and less on the passenger side. it was heading to the scrap yard when a friend asked me if I wanted to see it before it went. I checked out the engine and transmission and all seemed ok so that is where I started from.

Richard, I used to do all the DCfiats events but don't do much lately. I don't get up early enough for Katies!
