--Summit Point Motorsports Park, Summit Point, WV 15-16 June 2019.
--Due to life's little distractions, my first race of the season. Bottom Line: two second place finishes in F-production (4 F-prod cars in class).

--Group 7, small bore; 25 entries: 3 EP, 4 FP, 2 HP, 1 SPU, 9 STL, 2 GTP, 1 GTL, 3 SRX7's.

--Summary: A cats and dogs regional race (Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series [MARRS]), with 9 STL cars as the largest class in the Group. This usually just means more cars that can sometimes be tricky to get around. Also, a rain-plagued weekend, however all my sessions and races were rain free!

--Qualified Saturday 2nd in a class of 4, and 10th overall in the Group. The first place FP qualifier was almost 1.5 seconds faster than me, and qualified 3rd in the Group. My race strategy was simply to maintain my place, and hope the #1 FP car faltered. #1 FP was as steady as a rock, and so I finished 2nd in both Saturday and Sunday Races, keeping #'s 3 and 4 well behind me.

--Happy with these finishes, considering that this was my first outing of the year. The car ran well, but I struggled with a 3.9 diff on a relative short track, where I should have had a 4.1/4.3. I have yet to install another LSD in one of these. It's on the bench.... :(

Well done, sir. Seems like a long time since you had a trouble free race weekend. Racing is a lot more fun when you can just enjoy...racing.

Jim .. quick question … about the final drive ratios … what do you find different with the higher gear say a 430 to a 410 to a 390 as it relates to were the engine comes on cam ? that make sense...? My experience going from the 430 to a 410, is this … with the 430 I never seemed to notice when the cam actually started making the engine to sing, now it's distinctly at 5K the with 410 final drive …

Coming to FFO, bring the race car .. ?

--Hey Joe, with a stock gearbox, the 124 Spider is almost always a 3-4-5 gear race. A rare excursion to 2nd gear is sometimes used, for unseen circumstances, or as warranted by cars checking-up.

--So entry to most corners is a 5-4-3, or simply 4-3 shift, and exit is in 3rd gear. With the 3.9 diff and stock gear ratios in the gearbox, this gear ratio is simply too tall to keep rpm up with the cams and setup that I'm running. The result is usually lost momentum, while feathering the throttle and anxiously trying to regain the torque band. The 4.1 or 4.3 will help this with a stock gearbox.

--Trying to make FFO, if life's little distractions will permit. Will try to bring the racecar, and one or two other projects. This would be my first since 2002? Only trying to do this one for Denise!

Hi Jim … again outstanding result … yes, it for Denise for sure … her spirit of the thing in infectious ..and my wife actually likes going to FFO …, have not been a FLU member ( I FN hate the corporate FCA ) … she paid to join Fiat Club America..... no comment .. … My friend Mark(lives in Rural Retreat) but will be in NY and is bringing his trailer making the return trip with my 124. My plan is do as much hooligan driving with that thing , nothing more that 30 minute jaunt to some of the events … as long as Denise can supply my 110 leaded like she promised ….he he

I’ve had to drop out of the VIR event (car simply won’t be ready), so there’s a space there if you’d like it - fully paid for. Will be hauling something to FFO.....

I decided against doing the thing at VIR … …. plan became more social visit to friends in Virginia, FFO stuff, Bowman Gray oh yeah !.., and "saving the car" for the dedicated hooligan street stuff with my 124 … you get no takers let me know, will be in Virginia the weekend before the event, a couple days visit then head for FFO
