Crankshaft Part Numbers 124 Spider

--Gentlemen, do we have a listing for crankshaft part numbers for the 124 Spider? I found this for 2L crankshafts:
Year Part No.
1979-1982 5880944
1983-1985 5882102

--What about the others, 1438, 1608, 1592, and 1756? I believe the '73 1592 crankshaft also may be the same as the early 1756cc shafts [with the 10mm flywheel bolts] (same bore-spacing and stroke, different bore)?

--I thought I had a reference for all these part numbers (like we have done for heads), but I can't find one?
Thanks,

I found this in my notes. These are the numbers that are cast into the crank, which may or may not be the same number Fiat lists in the parts book...

Late 1800 crank casting # 4355814
Early 1800 crank casting #4238531

The part numbers are in the links themselves.

Chris Obert lists: 0004225065 for 1970 - 73 1608, 4238530 for 1592 and 1756 engines, 4355813 for 1978.

—Thanks guys. Maybe we could post these numbers in the library for future reference?

--This update includes a 2L (1995cc) casting #.

--Good response here. I suspect Csaba's observation that part numbers may differ from casting numbers is probably correct. I'll try to verify some of this today. Here's what I have so far from the responses:

4235063 - 1971-1973 - 1608cc
4238530 - 1973 - 1592cc
4238531 - 1974 - 1756cc
4238313 - 1975-1976 - 1756cc **
4238514 - 1977-1978 - 1756cc **
4370092 - 1979 -1982 - 1995cc
? - 1983 -1985 - 1995cc ***

-- ** The breakdown of the 1756cc crankshafts is an estimate.
-- *** I believe there is at least one more 1995cc crankshaft circa 1983-1985

--Note the photo attached is a comparison of the early(1974) and late ('75-78) 1756cc crankshafts. In addition to the 10mm flywheel bolts on the earl vs. the 12mm on the late, the early shaft also has a longer nose, which makes it just a little less desirable for racing where much higher output is expected.

Each crankshaft is located on sheet A1.03 in the 1966 - 1978 microfilm sets. The Spider 2000 set it is listed on sheet 12:

4160881 1968 1969 1970 1971 (1438cc)
4225065 1971 1972 1973 (1608cc)
4238530 1973 1974 1995 (1592cc and 1756cc to motor 0430996)
4255813 1976 1977 1978 (1756cc from motor 0430996)
5880944 1979 through 1984 (2000cc manual)
5881015 1979 through 1984 (2000cc auto)

From Obert's site:

5882091 Spider 2000/131 (2000cc manual) reverse thread bolt

From the old IPA parts book:

5882102 1983 through 1985 (2000cc manual) reverse thread bolt

--Brad, good stuff. Our numbers don't seem to match, particularly for 1608, and 1756cc cranks. I think we should sort this out, and then generate a listing of all known crankshafts, much as we did for head numbers years ago.

--When a crankshaft was in an original motor, it was a relatively safe bet that it was correct. These days crankshafts and motors have long been separated, and inter-changed in many cases. Rather than referring to a microfiche for each number, a listing by engine size would be a handy reference.

The microfilms we have show all prior production years for a series - so for example our spider 2000 set is from 1984. They show the currently applicable replacement part for the car, not necessarily the part originally installed.

Fiat seemed to produce many types of some parts, particularly engine parts, with no visible diffidence at times. Some, like the late style crank, are obviously different.

The division was not in 1974/75, but in the middle of the 1977 model year. That is when the nose of the crank, crank timing belt gear and crank pulley all changed.
