Re: Feels like the brakes are on!!!

I experienced the exact same thing when I first got my 72 Spider in 2000. In one weekend I replaced all 5 rubber hoses, installed a new master cylinder, a new rear compensator valve and I "think" I splurged and bought 4 new calipers. Did it all for my 1st time w/o the aid of the internet, just a wel...

Re: Devil of an air bubble

I have a rear compensator valve? :D I forgot all about that thing. Replaced it in 2001 and only occasionally check it for leaks. Never thought about it sticking or being out of adjustment. Hummmm... Swapping the MC is easy enough, but I don't understand the comment about the "master cylinder seal". ...

Devil of an air bubble

Can an air bubble migrate back and forth between the bore of an MC and the reservoir? Giving an intermittant low pedal? So I have experienced this curious (and alarming) condition where I momentarily lose a substantial amount of brake pedal pressure. Back in January and again just recently I found m...

Re: Banjo bolt retainer..

Is the retainer bent? The only time I've had trouble with them is when they got bent up during removal. Make sure the head of your banjo bolt is clean with crisp edges and the retainer is flat on top. This is one of those little PITA items that are cheap, but almost impossible to find locally when y...

Re: Differential Binding Report

So I reinstalled the brakes and took it for an 8 mile spin. Wow..... a quiet rear diff. No noise from the rear at all and that was with the top up! I let it cool for a few hours and repeated the drive 2 more times Saturday paying particular attention while making turns. Nothing found sticking to the...

Re: Differential Binding Question

When turning the driveshaft of the car by hand with the transmission in neutral, all feels fine. It's when I kneel down at the at the wheel well and turn the axle flange by hand, (transmission still in neutral) that I noticed that the axle shaft feels "bumpy". There is a definite resistance there th...

Differential Binding Question

So I installed a new (not rebuilt) differential last night. Rotating the driveshaft in either direction by hand feels "smooth" and from under the car I can see the axle shaft flanges turning freely. When I grab either of the axle shaft flanges and turn them by hand, they feel "bumpy" as they rotate....

Re: Is BAT going snooty?

Well if you miss the selection displayed on the "older" Bring a Trailer site, you may find this one of interest. It is so similar looking that I wonder if the same person owns both sites. I like seeing "dusty" cars that have not seen daylight in years. This site has plenty. Warning: If too much of y...

Re: Seat Foam

I got mine from Amazon. Very simple to wire up. I installed the switch in the bottom of the map pocket. -Steve

Re: Seat Foam

My wife got me one for the drivers seat in my '72. She got it from "Mr. Fiat" on e-bay. It was well shaped but a little too long when compared side by side on the bench with my original. I cut off the 4" that would usually tuck under the seat back with a big sharp K-Bar knife. My seat cover fit pret...
