New Mechanical Fuel Pump..... Hummmm that looks different

I removed a leaky fuel pump this weekend. Upon inspecting my replacement pump, I noticed that it looks a little different. I'm sure it will bolt right up and pump fuel, but looking at its actuating arm, I'm wondering if I may be creating a headache for myself down the road. The arm is much thinner t...

Re: Spider Crash Test Report

Oh....and BTW...... This past summer I talked to a fellow club member at Concorso Italiano who had rolled his spider over back in the day. Not going terribly fast, (but too fast for the road!) lost control, drifted off the pavement and up a slope, then completely rolled over. Said he was able to cra...

Re: Spider Crash Test Report

I was in a very similar accident to Bills in my 1st 1972 124 spider. Rear ended by a 90's Chevy Blazer while stopped in traffic. I got a little beat up as that car only had lap belts in it. The subsequent collision with the car in front of me was not as hard, but hurt way worse as I had slid high up...

Re: Rear Compensator, open or closed?

Wow.....the valve is normally in a closed position fresh out of the box? I thought it was open until the actuating rod pushed the piston closed..... So the best condition to bleed the rears would be with the piston fully pushed in by the actuating rod. Damn.....that explains a lot. Wish that tip was...

Rear Compensator, open or closed?

I have installed a new rear compensator on the 124. Couldn’t get any fluid from the rear calipers. Car sitting on all 4 tires.... this morning I disconnected the actuating rod, but still get no fluid out. Is the valve normally closed? Does it have to be under tension from the actuating rod to open a...

Endless Bench Bleeding....

I went all out to bench bleed my new MC. Rigged up my reservoirs above the vise mounted MC and made new lines running from the 3 outlets to a can of fluid. I can’t seem to keep the reservoirs full as they slowly drain into the can. I’ve never bench bled before..... is this normal? Anyone see anythin...

Re: Brake Light On.....but why?

Car is a 72 124. Brake fluid reservoirs are full. Didn’t think to check the wire connection at the brake line splitter under the MC. (That’s where sensor lives.) The brake lamp only comes on if I push the pedal really hard. Moderate stoping does not activate the lamp. Had to leave the car at home an...
