Re: Smith's Far Code

Thanks for the replies. That was going to be my next question, do these show up on the wiring diagrams at all. I just found it on the coupe and TC 1974 diagrams. It's number 189 if anyone cares. I assume it was wired the same way. At least now I can learn how to pull it out if I want to.

Re: Shipping a Car

I'm glad you even got your car - the only time I used them I had to get my credit card company involved. Yeah, I read a lot of horror story reviews for a lot of these companies. I figured that if they were all shady I had to just bite the bullet some way. I suppose getting chewed out for asking a s...

Re: Smith's Far Code

Hm, this car just gets stranger and stranger. I took a look at the 128 wiring diagrams and I did find one that mentioned that early 1975 models had the Smith system used, but no other notes. I suppose the same was true for the 124. The interlock has already been disengaged, so I'm not worried about ...

Re: Adapting 5 wire 128 motor to the Spider (6 wire)

Just a quick "dummy check" type question. I haven't taken one of these motors apart but the first place I think of where you would have a spring in a motor is behind a brush so it contacts the commutator bar. Is it possible you left it out? If the brushes are not in a configuration like that you can...

Smith's Far Code

Hello everyone, I have a 1975 spider and found this box on the passenger side panel above the map pocket. It says Smith's 274 Far Code 1101. The only hits that come up on google are for jaguar forums where they say it's a door buzzer. Is this a door buzzer in the Fiat as well? The wiring diagram rea...

Re: Shipping a Car

I just shipped a car from South Oregon to Los Angeles. I decided to use Montway as I was in a time crunch because of business travel and they advertised that you could pick delivery dates. It was fine in some ways and not in others. The car did arrive when I needed it to and it did cost what they sa...

Re: 1975 124 Turn Signal Wiring

I thought I would be finished after adding the ground to the front passenger turn signal but something weird happened. Now when I turn the signal switch to either side the turn signal will flash about 4 times, getting dimmer each time and then stop. It's like there's a capacitor that's in the circui...

Re: 1975 124 Turn Signal Wiring

Thanks for the replies.

I suppose it is simplest to add a new ground. My only concern is if that's going to disrupt the intermittent nature of the turn signal. I don't see any relay or something for switching it on and off. Does anyone know how the flashing is achieved for the turn signals?

1975 124 Turn Signal Wiring

Hello again, I was out working on my 1975 spider today. The front passenger turn signal and side indicator are both very dim. Also the rear passenger side parking light does not come on. I have tried replacing the bulbs. For the front lights I assume it's a grounding issue. Based on the wiring diagr...

Re: Burnt Wiring Connector and Electric Thoughts

I just looked through the wiring diagrams I have, and it looks like the 16 terminal was connected to a wire that directly powered the fuel pump. I think the theory is that it will run your fuel pump when you're cranking the starter. Kind of a belt and braces wiring to ensure that you're getting fuel...
