Auxiliary Air Valve - Proper test procedure

I have removed, cleaned, and attempted to test the Auxiliary Air Valve on my 82 124. It does not appear that any of the internal mechanism is moving regardless of temperature. I put it in the freezer and nothing moved. I took it out and blasted it with a hot hair dryer and nothing moved. Any suggest...

Yessir they do. I was looking for something that would retain more of a factory ride (the car also has koni yellows on it), and also thought maybe someone had a set they might let go of for a reasonable price.
