Re: Restoration and repair near Cincinnati?

Jon Logan (Midwest 124) is the engine guy. He's out of Columbus, and I think shares the shop with Midwest Bayless.

Re: 1438 Performance Builds

Joe, back in my drag racing days, my formative teenage years, one of my close friends had a 442. As you say, balanced and blueprinted was the first order of business for serious performance. Do they not call it blueprinting anymore?

Re: 1st post in 17 years: Advice sought

Andy, I'm blaming the whole thing on Allen. I'm bringing the car in for a good paint job, Allen suggested a pull the engine party so it can be done right. Well who am I to argue with Allen's logic. Especially when he's right. So if I can find agreeable dates and weather, I guess we're having a party...

Re: Pininfarina side badge question

Thanks Brad, I couldn't tell from the pictures on the web site if the details were there or not. My current car is a resto-mod, it was a pretty worn out '79 but with a lot less rust than my original '73. Over twenty years ago I made the decision to put the money into the '79 as it was a more solid c...

Pininfarina side badge question

I'm getting the spider ready for paint and when I removed the Pininfarina side badges I noticed they no longer display the Pininfarina colors. Mine are old school, metal with threaded mounting studs. Can these be restored and if so, where/who dose this kind of work. Alternatively, are new badges ava...

Re: 1st post in 17 years: Advice sought

Yes indeed, it always helps to have friends in low places, like under your car 😎. I have a couple, one is mentioned in Brad's book and the other runs Andy's "Skunk Works North". Allen and Jim know way more about these cars mechanically than I do and I know if I really get in over my skill set, I can...

Re: 1st post in 17 years: Advice sought

There was a time when a Spider 2000 was easier to get parts for, that's not necessarily the case today though. There was also a time when the spider 2000 was a better highway car because of the gear ratio in the rear end, however, a new pumpkin is now available for the earlier cars with the same 3.9...

Re: Fiats, fun cars or collector cars?

My car will never be too nice to drive, have you bought a new car or truck lately, if a 50-60 thousand dollar car or truck isn't too expensive to drive, I'm not worried about the $10,000 I may have in my spider. But Ron does have a point, people have either spent quite a bit of money on their cars, ...

Re: Fiat 124 Spider front bumper mounts - new vs old

Chris, a fair question. My concern is that if the bumper sits just a wee bit higher than on the pre '73 cars it will be too high for the old style lights. I'm hoping my body and paint guy can get the bumper to sit below the bottom of the grill, but even then, I'm not confident there would be adequat...
