Re: Tire size for 13" wheels

Mike, Thanks. Yes, the brakes are the original Whoa, from Midwest. They are the 10" rotors, and they fit easily in the 13X5.5" CD30 wheels. On the racer, I have Compomotive 13X7” CXR wheels, with 10" rotors, and the stock 124 calipers (mandated for Vintage racing), which have less clearance, and the...

Re: 1982 Parade Car

The Bosch starter is vastly superior to the Magneti Spaghetti unit (boat anchor), but the Gear Reduction Starters are SO much better than either. I still use the Bosch for it's "ballast" characteristics on the racer (have to make weight, and it's low in the car...), but I have the A/R GRS in the Str...

Re: Tire size for 13" wheels

As I have a performance aspect for both of my Spiders, I use the TOYO Proxes RA-1 DOT "race" tires. While these have a treadwear index of only 100, they have proven to be very durable on the road, and on the track. In 206/60-13, I have them on 13X5.5 wheels on the Stradale replica, and the same size...

Re: Vintage Racer Build

Joe, We can't control the weather, but maybe it will see some testing time yet this year. If not, it will be ready for a full race season next Spring! The Drivetrain goes in starting Today. I still have to get two fuel lines made up from the FPR to the carbies. Also I have one oil cooler line that i...

Re: 131 Gearbox with Abarth shift extension

Steve, You are correct, sir. Those shifter assemblies did not come to the USA. I have two, and both came to me by way of Australia. The one pictured, and another that is plain. I also got an extra one once for a customer with a 124 racer - also plain. Both of the plain ones came via Curly in Melbour...

Re: Vintage Racer Build

More progress. Sadly, I don't think the weather will allow getting this out on track this year for a proper shakedown. Maybe if the weather cooperates. The drivetrain goes in this week. IMG_1970.jpg IMG_1954.jpg The backdating is complete, and only the passenger door needs bodywork from an old colli...

131 Gearbox with Abarth shift extension

There has been a fair amount of discussion about the 131 transmission conversion for the 124 Spiders. I was cleaning up the one for the Vintage racer today, and took some pictures. IMG_1972.jpg IMG_1973.jpg I also took a picture of the clutch fork which is a race only modification for the use of a F...

Re: WaterfordHills Race #6, Sept 28th 2019

Ted, Tight, busy track. Nice race for you. Was that a Miata that passed you? Damned things are fast - one reason I moved to Vintage... When I lived in Ohio, I raced at Grattan (loved it!), and Gingerman (not so much), but never at Waterford Hills. You and Jim need to keep it up in SCCA. Most of the ...
