Re: Anyone ever replaced the positive battery cable?

Yes, you can make a new battery cable. A good source for components are real or virtual stores that cater to the boating crowd. New 2/0 cable is about $6 per foot, so measure carefully! Re: pre-purchase inspection, Houston (Katy) TX

Thanks to all for your profound statements. :? Hired an Internet advertiser for $139, and he saved me $500 in travel expenses. My biggest fear was that he may be in cahoots with the seller, but he was ruthless in his assessment. Maybe he'll save me a lot more by declining the car, or in negotiating ...

Re: pre-purchase inspection, Houston (Katy) TX

"Stunning" is too strong a word; 3+ is probably more accurate, but thanks. The vehicle in question is a 2012 Jaguar XJ. No action thus far. I'm thinking of trying one of the "for hire" PPI companies. I recently spent an unsuccessful, grueling 23 hours traveling to buy a similar car that was Not As A...

Re: Time for a new battery

Concerning trickle chargers. I've got several I bought from Harbor Freight. ... I've used the HF trickle chargers successfully for a number of years, but you must ensure that the AC circuit remains active, or the charger will drain the battery beyond salvation in short order. The red LED on the HF ...

I had a good experience with copper/nickel. Easy to work without tools.

Re: Mystery clicking sound when clutch pedal is depressed

Are you sure you don't have an electrical pushbutton switch mounted under the dash? This emissions device presses against a tab on the clutch pedal, about halfway up.
