Re: New 1969 Spider Project

Congrats Brad; - always had a soft spot for that flat-hood 1438. My first 124 was a '69 in Positano Giallo. It felt like a real fire-breather after abandoning my anemic '71 850 spider (that was cute as a button though...). Ain't it great that you can consider restoring a now-50-year-old Italian spor...

Re: Door alignment on 124 Spider

Ha, - You're right Jim I only check in now and then. Will start driving the '84 again soon and wrenching on the endless '72 project car, so I will likely be whimpering in the corner here for support and / or sympathy  But hey my signature panel says I have 2700 posts...(1996 was a long time ag...

Re: Door alignment on 124 Spider

What Carl said.

When I had that issue on my '84 it was indeed metal fatigue and cracks in the sheet steel in the door above the top hinge.
It was welded and has held up fro 20+ years.

The body guy who fixed it said don't lean on the door when you're getting in and out!

Re: Quickee- F.I. Spider - What Turns the fuel Pump on?

Very interesting David, thank you. If I ever knew about the 3 contacts I had forgotten about them. I do recall that someone many years ago did a a FAQ on the old Mira site with color photo's showing how to rebuild an ignition switch, maybe that is still available. Actually, I just checked; - it was ...

Re: Mechanic recommendation Eastern Long Island.

Hiya Scott; I got in touch with Fred Frey, who actually used to live in Hampton Bays, not Bridgehampton. It's been a few years, but he had work done on his Fiat by the owner of a shop in town, who owned a Spider and had worked on a lot of them Fred feels that they could easily take care of your re-s...

Thanks Brad, I will pass that along.
I think you meant micro-switch in the AFM though, not micro-relay?

Re: Mechanic recommendation Eastern Long Island.

Greetings Jim &Co. I am late to the party, just came back from a long weekend in Virginia, of all places! I met a guy a few years ago who had an Alfa Coupe and a Fiat or two, who was out in Bridgehampton. I have the impression he had a shop, and could work on cars. It will take me a while to t...

Re: Quickee- F.I. Spider - What Turns the fuel Pump on?

Also - someone mentioned that the fuel rail should maintain pressure for an hour or more after
the ignition is killed. Is that a function of a one way valve or similar component in the pump itself?
