Re: Valves & springs & things

P/N 455626 dual spring combo. Works with Stock Spring Retainers BUT you would REMOVE the bottom spring locater from the head. Note the comment about being sure to remove the bottom OE spring locator. Is it possible that wasn't done in the original build? bing bing bing.... we have a winner. There's...

Re: Valves & springs & things

Number one reason for coil breakage would be binding, what spring installed height and what cam lift were you using. If the stem seal has been taking a beating, the other thing that can go wrong is the upper spring retainer hitting the valve stem seal.. which means things are way too close. That exh...

Re: Getting rid of auxiliary venturis

I am happy to report that addressing the cold start circuit solved my running rich issue with any idle jet size. As indicated in this thread, the taper of the piston in the cold start circuit had some wear on it causing it to leak air. actually that would cause it to leak fuel, but we get the idea ...

Re: Getting rid of auxiliary venturis

If someone was "tuning" their webers and got to the point where all four idle mix screws were fully seated, all four idle air correctors were fully seated tight, and the throttle stop screw was wound in three full turns (which is max adjustment before the tension spring bottoms out) then they should...

Re: IDF dimensions

it looks like the upside down aux venturi would interfere with the throttle plate when fully open. Nope, they can definitely be fitted unpside down in 44IDF and also in 45DCOE's (plus probably other models too) without the throttle plate being interfered with at all, and function, albeit very very ...

Re: IDF dimensions

that's an ODD 40IDF, it uses an aux venturis like a 44IDF...

and BTW, it wont run very well like that, the Aux venturi is in upside-down... the orifice the fuel issues from faces away from the airstream.... it won't pull very much fuel like that...

Re: Crankshaft Part Numbers 124 Spider

The casting number on a part (specifically a part that has "other" parts attached or fitted to it) like in the case of a crankshaft (where it has the oil way plugs fitted) or a cylinder head (which has guides and valve seats fitted) won't correspond to the actual part number the crank or head is lis...

Re: Getting rid of auxiliary venturis

biggest problem with going to a larger than 32mm choke size (which also happens to be the largest size weber supplies as an original part for the 40IDF) in a 40IDF is the very restrictive nature of the 40IDF's auxiliary venturi...the ID of the 40IDF aux venturi meausres just 37mm To assist those who...

Re: piston stop tool OK?

Positive stop method of determining TDC is usually done when the cylinder head is off, and usually with something quite a large diameter (like the flywheel) mounted to give a degree of accuracy. The Fiat DOHC engine HAS a TRUE TDC marker already... remove the front crankshaft pulley and on the crank...
