Csaba, Yes, you could in add this to the top of the diff, minus the telescoping part. This would move the roll center to the top off the diff affecting the handling of the car, (you would also need to break out the sawsall and start cutting up that rear shelf area to make it fit). Steve, correct me if i am wrong, the Lotus Cortina attached their "A-frame" to the end of the diff similar to your first sketch but also use a swivel.

+1 with Mark, no real need for studs or MLS head gaskets, unless you plan on turbo charging it. I run a 2l race engine with 13:1 cr, std felpro gasket, std head bolts. Cams, 282 on the intake only, with 9.8 pistons, adj cam pulleys, 40 idf’s , header Abarth type. I have the same setup in my 78 spide...
