I strongly second Artigue's warning on Optima batteries. I got fished in, bought two of the things and had bad experiences with both. Go with a reputable lead acid battery with lots of cold cranking amps. b-

I hear ya! Of all the engines, I'd pick the 1800 last. I like the 1438 for the most authentic, followed by the 2 liter for a more sedate driving experience. I've never driven a 1600, but I bet it's sweet! b-

I use mineral spirits and a toothbrush, followed by Dawn dishwashing liquid in hot water. Repeat as needed. b-

Yes, I still have it. Mine does NOT have the nipple that send hot water to the FI thermal block on the intake plenum. b-
